Byington Vineyard sits in scenic Los Gatos, in the most emerging wine region in California. They produce both reds and whites, but are known for their Pinot Noir– a grape that thrives in the soil and climate of the Paso Robles region. Tours are available to the public Wednesday-Sunday, from 11:00am-5:00pm. Private tours for groups of 10 or more are available with advance reservations. Like many other wineries and vineyards in this region, David Bruce Winery specializes in Pinot Noir. The Los Gatos tasting room is open to the public Thursday and Friday from 12:00pm-5:00pm, Saturday and Sunday from 11:00am-5:00pm. Private tours are available for groups of 10 or more with reservations. The winery’s Private Cellar Club is available to the public, with a Pinot Only option for those with a preference for the area’s star grape.
J. Lohr Vineyards and Wines was opened to the public by Jerry Lohr in 1974. J. Lohr boasts over 3,700 acres of estate vineyards along California’s Central Coast. The San Jose wine center is open from 10:00am-5:00pm daily. No tours of the winery are offered, but tastings are available for no fee. Several wine club options are available, which are the only way to get a taste of the prestigious J. Lohr “Gesture” collection.
Dating back to 1878, the passion for making wine has been the one constant for this winery in Saratoga. Tastings are available on Thursday and Friday from 12:00pm-7:00pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 12:00pm-5:00pm. One of the oldest California wineries, Picchetti Winery is located in Cupertino, in the Santa Cruz Mountains, with a second tasting room near Lake Tahoe. The winery specializes in Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon, with other red and white varietals available. The Cupertino wine complex and Tasting Room is open daily from 11:00am-5:00pm. The 1920s-style Savannah-Channelle Vineyards in Saratoga is home to varietals of red and white, though their Pinot Noir and award-winning Zinfandel are their featured wines. Tastings are available to the public. The winery has barbecue facilities, as well as a wedding and party venue. Their wine club is also available for greater enjoyment of all the winery has to offer.
